International Rendezvous is a gathering of local and international scouting friends at Camp Hi-Sierra. It's based on the tradition of mountain men gathering to get supplies, news, and socialize.
We're reaching out to our international scouting friends to join us in 2025 where we can share activities, friendship, fun, and experiences. International Rendezvous began at Camp Hi-Sierra in 1992 and we've had participants from the Philippines, Japan, New Zealand, Turkey, and many more countries. It’s for scouts 13 and older by June 29, 2025.
Video Highlights!
History of the Mountain Man and the Rendezvous (Part I )
The Mountain Men were trappers, hunters, traders and explorers who lived primarily in the wilderness of the Rocky Mountains, the Pacific Northwest, the Southwest, and Canada between about 1810 and the 1880s, hitting its peak about 1840. Most were engaged in the fur trade as part of the natural geographic and economic expansion of the west following the Louisiana Purchase and the Lewis and Clark Expedition’s exploration of the area in 1803–1806. Fur, especially beaver fur, was used in fashionable clothing of that era, especially men’s hats in the cities of Europe, and beavers were plentiful in the wilderness of the West. (To be continued...)
